Our Support of the British Lung Foundation Continues
While we work in many areas of the construction and marine industry offering a variety of specialist services from fire and security systems to demolition and more besides, it is our experience as asbestos removers that has prompted us to support the British Lung Foundation (BLF).
As one of the leading companies in the UK for our asbestos removal services, we are aware of the dangers caused by asbestos and mesothelioma, the cancer it can cause if disturbed or removed unsafely.
With such a cause so close to our hearts, it is unsurprising therefore, that we would find an affinity with the BLF, whose cause is the treatment of lung conditions, including mesothelioma. Their work supports the research made into this illness that is currently responsible for around 2,500 deaths every year.
Ian Jarrold, Head of Research at the British Lung Foundation, said: “Mesothelioma is a truly terrible disease. It is almost always fatal and there is currently no cure. But we’re hoping to change this.
“We’re so grateful to Shield Environmental Services for their ongoing support, and we’re delighted that they’re continuing on as a Mesothelioma Patron. It’s thanks to our fantastic corporate partners, and everyone who donates to the BLF, that we’re able to invest in vital research, and give hope, help and a voice to patients with mesothelioma across the UK.”
Since 2016, Shield Environmental Services has been honoured to be a Silver Patron of the British Lung Foundation and such a natural partnership means that we are pleased to announce that we are continuing our support of the research and the works of the BLF for another year.
In addition to this, it will have been our third year taking part in RideLondon raising money for the British Lung Foundation. RideLondon is a 100-mile cycle around London, starting in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and ending at The Mall in central London. This year’s event took place on 29th July and Olly from the Business Development team rode on behalf of the Shield team. Olly will be retrospectively raising money for the BLF through his Just Giving webpage. If you wish to support, please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/olly-brokenshire.
