With our practical experience and expertise in asbestos removal, we also train individuals in ‘Asbestos Awareness’ and ‘Non-Licensed Work with Asbestos’.

Our course leaders are IATP and UKATA accredited. Shield is an ARCA approved asbestos training provider and a member of UKATA (UK Asbestos Training Association). Our courses are delivered to UKATA benchmarks and ensure quality training to a recognised industry standard.

Our recently upgraded membership now enables us to undertake fully-licensed asbestos training (previously known as Category C). All asbestos training courses are specifically designed to ensure our clients comply with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and are in line with the approved code of practice.

Our courses are informative, engaging and meet our clients’ needs. All attendees receive a comprehensive course booklet, a certificate and a photo ID training card on completion of the asbestos training.

We run asbestos training courses in our Bristol and Warrington offices. Individuals can attend these courses from sites, organisations and businesses nationwide.

We also offer courses on sites and in offices around the country. Our course leader can deliver ‘Asbestos Awareness’ training for up to 15 people and ‘Non-Licensed Work with Asbestos’ for up to 10 people.

Asbestos Awareness – ½ day

We understand that in order for an organisation to know what the risks of asbestos are, the dangers and the protocol, it is first necessary for them to know that there are risks, dangers and protocols. This starts with an asbestos awareness course to get individuals familiar with the substance and the hazards.

This course is for anyone who could come into contact with Asbestos and covers:

  • The properties of asbestos and its effect on health
  • The types, uses and likely occurrence of asbestos and ACMs in buildings and plant
  • The general procedures to be followed to deal with an emergency
  • How to avoid the risks from asbestos

This course is available to and may be applicable for anyone working in demolition, property maintenance, waste disposal, security companies, energy suppliers, providers of facilities, as well as anyone providing plumbing and heating, shop fitting, plastering, flooring, painting and decorating, roofing and general construction works. Past sessions have also been attended by groups from universities and schools, architects and surveyors.
