Shropshire man is sentenced to 12 months in prison after his company supplied roofing panels containing Chrysotile asbestos.

A 64 year old man from Shropshire has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after his company supplied roofing panels containing chrysotile asbestos.

Company Director Robert Marsh was caught out by the HSE when an investigation about a construction worker who was roofing a barn using the panels fell through the material and later died of his injuries.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found that Robert Marsh who was the sole Director of RM Developments (2005) Ltd of Newport guilty of supplying asbestos roofing sheets to a farming partnership in Frankley, Worcestershire.

Mr Marsh pleaded guilty to one breach of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and also to a contravention of The Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) Regulations 2008. Mr Marsh was sentenced to serve 12 months in prison, disqualified from being a Director for 6 years and ordered to pay £10,000 in costs.
