Vanessa James Retires From Our Truro Branch

Vanessa Retires and Becomes our Newest Shield Ambassador

After nearly ten years as a crucial member of the team at our Truro branch, Vanessa James has decided to take early retirement but has agreed to continue representing Shield Services Group as one of our Shield Ambassadors.

Vanessa joined Shield in December 2013 as a temporary Administration Assistant in the Surveying Department. She was taken on full-time in January 2014. At the start of 2015, Vanessa transferred to the Asbestos department as an Administrator, assuming additional responsibilities, including becoming the Waste Transfer Station Supervisor.

Vanessa was promoted to Office Manager in February 2020, a role that her peers knew she was already doing! She built great working relationships with her colleagues across many departments and branches, twice being nominated for and winning employee of the month.

Vanessa commented, “I remain extremely passionate about Shield, and feel both proud and privileged to have worked with so many great people, both here in Truro, representing Cornwall, and more widely across the whole Shield Group.“

Luke House, Chairman of Shield Services Group, commented, “It is with great sadness that I have to announce that Vanessa James, Cornwall Office Manager, is retiring from Shield and our Truro branch. Vanessa has been the glue of our Cornish operation for many years now and will be sorely missed by all. However, a long and happy retirement, which will hopefully include lots of travelling with her husband Nick, is thoroughly deserved and we wish you both the very best.

I’d like to personally thank you Vanessa for your exceptional hard work, loyalty, and commitment over the last 9 plus years, you will always be a part of the Shield family and are now an honorary Shield Ambassador, meaning you are not be allowed to become a stranger and will be invited to all future Shield social events.
